Everyone is getting sick and tired of ads. No matter where you turn, it feels like ads are following you. They’re even coming to Netflix now. Ads are annoying and can sometimes lead you to fake websites. No one likes them, maybe except marketers.

So, what should you do when you want to get more traffic? Do it organically.

Organic traffic is THE BEST way to scale your personal brand, business, e-commerce store, or anything in between. When you eliminate the “sponsored” factor from your posts, every customer will respect you more. People are astonished when they don’t encounter a paywall when reading content. And they choose it for the long term. It’s that simple. Offer value for free and get paid for your services.

Instead of figuring out the best way to bypass your customer’s ad blocker, spend time creating meaningful, valuable content that actually converts. Now, let’s dive into how to increase organic traffic in six ways.

  1. Focus on the right keywords

Everything starts with the basics – keywords. A keyword is the phrase a user types into Google or another search engine. Let’s say you’ve got a company that sells courses on public speaking. A user will type into Google “public speaking tips for beginners” and hope someone helps them solve their problem. If you have a guide like “7 Best Public Speaking Tips For Beginners” and you’re the top result, they will probably click on your page.

This is just an example, but you can use the Google Keyword Planner and Search Console to find relevant keywords for your niche. Just put in “public speaking” and see what comes up. You’ll have to focus on long-tail keywords at first because your competitors are probably hogging the simple phrase. If you focus on the short keywords, you’ll compete against The Washington Post, The New York Times, and YouTube. And that’s a battle you’re not going to win.

  1. Strategically update your content

Search engines looove high-quality content. Who doesn’t? However, one thing they love more is fresh, high-quality content. So, if you’ve got great-performing articles that are currently on the second page of Google – it’s time to give them an update! Start with the mid-performing pieces of content and try to rank them higher. You’ll see massive improvements and traffic from such a simple change. Add a few more sections, change the date, and see whether you can:

–        Make the article clearer.

–        Include more relevant graphics (images and videos).

–        Improve the style of writing.

–        Add bullet points.

–        Add more headings.

–        Make it easier to read.

–        Change your CTA.

–        Add more recent information.

All of these things will enhance the quality and freshness of your article, and you’ll be hopping on the first page in no time. Make sure not to remove keyword mentions or any important things people have been searching for. That can harm your rankings and drop you down further into the void.

  1. Focus on a suitable word count

Word count is tricky. You need to balance between not too much and not too little. And there isn’t the right number of words for every article. When you ask how long an article should be, the answer should be “as long as it needs to be to answer all of the questions for a given topic.” And that’s a good rule to follow.

Usually, a good practice is for articles to fall in the 1500 to 2000 word range so you can cover a topic from multiple angles. In fact, every algorithm (search engine or social media) favors long-form content because that keeps more users hooked on their screens. When it comes time to create your next article, you can make a pro-gamer move. Just look at your competitors.

Search for the keyword you want to rank for, look at how many words the top 10 results have, write it to be close to or longer than they have, and add more information. So that you know, you can’t compete with a 5000-word deep-dive guide with a measly 300-word blog post. It just doesn’t work that way.

  1. Create A LOT of content

LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok are where your audience will be. And if you share your content on all of them, you increase the chances of going viral. It’s a game of numbers, and it’s a simple one. One of the best examples of using social media for organic traffic is Alex Hormozi. He looks at it like a numbers game where volume negates luck. He’s creating 250 pieces of content a week. He’s not doing twice the effort of his competitors. He’s doing 50 times their effort. And he scaled to 1.2 million followers in six months. That’s an insane strategy.

Not everyone has $20k a month to spend on a content marketing agency to handle such a massive workload. But you can start small and progressively grow, just like you do in the gym. Start by creating one piece of content a week. Then, make two pieces of content. Post it on all platforms and see how they perform. You’ll get data, plus you’ll get faster at creating. With time, you’ll see substantially more results compared to just making a post when you publish a new article.

  1. Be consistent

You can’t post 50 pieces of content in one week and then 5 in the next week. Marketing and algorithms just don’t work that way. You need to create a sustainable schedule that you can maintain for years. That way, search engines and social media platforms will know you still exist, you’re active, and your content is updated. As mentioned above, Google prefers fresh content ( and users are always searching for it).

You might be disappointed when you see what kinds of numbers your competitors are doing. But you shouldn’t be. They might be a monopoly, and you can post two articles in a month and still make seven figures over a few years. Content is a process that takes time. When you plant a seed, you don’t take it out of the ground to see how much it has grown in a week. You let it stay and trust in the process.

  1. Get some backlinks

Backlinks used to be all the rage a few years ago, and now their popularity has dwindled. But that doesn’t mean they’re not necessary. They still matter since backlinks are referrals from other pages that your posting is important and valuable. The quickest and easiest way to get backlinks is to go on podcasts. You just find someone in the same niche as you who has a podcast or some interviewer you like, and send them a message about some topics you can talk about. It’s super simple.

Another great backlinking strategy is HARO – help a reporter out. You can answer reporter queries as an expert and get featured on places like Healthline and Forbes. Now, those backlinks hold a lot of weight and can make your SEO game twice as effective. When pitching to reporters, you need to be short, to the point, and include your credentials. You’re competing against a lot of contributors, but it only takes one to make the boom you’re looking for.
