What is File Editing?

The WordPress interface includes a code editor for themes and plugins.

Themes and Plugin settings are located on the left navigation panel. To change the theme and plugin files straight from the WordPress dashboard, they provide a simple code editor.

Why Disable File Editors in WordPress?

From the admin section of your website, one of the greatest places to start is with security. The login page causes trouble for millions of websites by allowing the introduction of malicious code into the plugin and theme coding files.

The worst aspect is that after a website has been hacked through poor code injection, it might be challenging to remediate. You can’t browse through all of the code files on a plugin or theme because there are plenty of them.

Therefore, why not make the decision to fire the editor? I’m hoping you’ll find it simple to do this.

The primary drawback of the built-in file editor is that it offers you complete freedom to add any form of code to your website. If a hacker gained access to your WordPress admin area, they might access all of your WordPress data using the built-in editor.

Additionally, it may be used by hackers to spread malware or start DoS attacks from your WordPress website.

We advise fully deleting the built-in file editors from WordPress in order to increase security.

Let’s now examine how to quickly disable WordPress’s file editors.

Conclusion

For WordPress security, the admin panel must be protected. Hard passwords, security questions, a login attempt cap, or the use of login security plugins are all ways to protect a login page.

It could take a long time and be challenging to clean the code of a hacked website.

Even if a hacker manages to access the website, you may prevent any code injection by disabling file editing.
